Word Work

Each week your child will receive ten Greek and Latin Root words to study.  These words are made up of prefixes, bases, and suffixes.  They will receive the words at the beginning of the week, and then we do lessons throughout the week to learn the mearnings.  Your child is expected to know the meaning of each word for the word work test on Friday. 

In addition to the definition test, students will have a dictation spelling test.  The will include five high frequency words that students will also receive at the start of each week.  The sentences will have the five words plus other basic fourth grade words that your child should already know how to spell from third grade.  Those words are not given out ahead of time.

First Quarter Greek and Latin Roots
